Buffalo National River and NW Arkansas
Mandy and I went down to the Boxley Valley tonight to see if we could hear some bugling, and look at the elk behavior on the "second shift". Basically this is a morning and evening thing this time of year. Bugling is the same. Tonight we heard nothing, but it is still real early.

The bachelor bull herd was grazing in the field north of the mill pond. We did survey the whole valley and found no elk anywhere else, except the odd stray.

Tonight I have better pictures, in normal light. It is much easier to shoot at night, but the mornings often have better action. So there are trade-offs. These pictures came out pretty well in the sweet light. It is over pretty much now by 7:30 in the valley.
