Another difficult day in Boxley, but the elk were cooperative. They were in the field south of the elk observation pullout, and a second herd bedded down in the field by the intersection of highway 21 and 43.
There was still pretty foggy conditons. The weather is now transitioning back close to seasonal averages in the upper 80s. This may cut the fog some. It has to help to get past all the rain. Here's some pictures from today:
Boxley Update 08/22/08
Notes:
I complain about the fog, but fog makes for dramatic photos and interesting pastel and painterly photos. They are open to a lot of different interpretations.
All these photos were taken at the intersection of 21 and 43, with the exception of the top left. It was taken in the first field past the observation pullout. The light was excellent for the first photo, it just glowed.
Notice how the elk almost look 3D with the soft backgrounds.
To cope with foggy photos, I increase contrast and saturation primarily. Of course, given more time, these would look better.
