Buffalo National River and NW Arkansas
Weather this AM in Boxley Valley was horrible. Really packed in super dense fog and nothing doing with the elk either. Once again space aliens have abducted the elk and all that could be heard was muffled bugling along the river cane line. At least one elk was faintly visible. I am pretty certain the elk have migrated to an upper pasture. Apparently the elk viewing was good last evening.

After chatting with some regulars I packed it in for Steel Creek. It is just up highway 74 east of Ponca and a very scenic venue for taking pictures. I actually shot pictures of bipeds today, not generally my cup of tea unless they are birds. Early fall color is blossoming and I got some color along the buffalo national river. I love the contrast between the hard whites and tans of the rock, and the rich fall colors.

All the pictures below are from Steel Creek. Keep it in mind as a fall back destination, or just a destination. In my opinion, it is as good a campground as there is in Buffalo National River park. It was loaded today with horsemen and campers.  Pictures below, all from Steel Creek.
